1999 Stockton Folk Dance Camp Diary

Day One of Week Two--A Preview of What's to Come
Sunday, August 1, 1999

Sunday of Week 2 brings new people from around the globe (this week it's Japan, Brazil, El Salvador, Hong Kong, Australia) for another great week of dancing. Two-week campers use the day for catching up on sleep, doing laundry, and some go to San Francisco for sight seeing. New faces are greeted in the office by the staff, including Cookie, camp secretary and coordinator of everything.

The first camp event happens on Sunday night at 8, when all the teachers teach a dance, usually one of the easier dances that they plan to present during the week. This helps campers make the difficult choice of which classes they want to attend. Above is a clogging version of Cotton Eyed Joe for two couples, presented by Greg Lund who is giving clogging workshops every afternoon during the week.
